In an interview with IGN during IGN Live 2024, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer confirmed that more first-party Xbox titles will be making their way on to other platforms. The confirmation comes after the recent success of titles like Sea of Thieves and Hi-Fi Rush after they got released on PS5. Obsidian Entertainment’s Grounded and Pentiment also recently received multiplatform releases.
“You are going to see more of our games on more platforms, and we just see that as a benefit to the franchises that we’re building,” said Spencer while speaking about how the company plans on supporting the games it releases.
While this doesn’t indicate what games we’ll be seeing released on PS5 or Nintendo Switch down the line, it is likely that major upcoming titles, including the recently-announced DOOM: The Dark Ages, will make their way on to the PS5.
Microsoft has made its stance on multiplatform releases increasingly clear in recent months. In April, CEO Satya Nadella stated that the company was “committed to meeting players where they are by bringing great games to more people on more devices”. Read more on that through here.
Recent leaks have also claimed that an in-development remaster of Halo: Combat Evolved is being considered for PS5.
