A Plague Tale: Innocence is coming this month, and publisher Focus Home Interactive is in full marketing mode. We’ve seen several videos highlighting various aspects of the game, including an 8 minute gameplay snippet that shows how bleak the game can feel. The director of the game, meanwhile, hopes it will be looked at as modern folklore, partially because of its themes of putting children through dark times- and the newest gameplay overview released shows that’s no joke.
As you can see from the video below, the gameplay will involve a lot of stealth. You play as the older of the two siblings at the centre of the story, Amicia, and she must avoid combat with soldiers of the Inquisition, who present a dangerous threat to her in several ways. To do this, you’ll hhave to rely on using the environment to escape and/or kill you foes, which can include using the swarms of plague-carrying rats. The game will also feature crafting and alchemy for survival as the two siblings will meet various other people caught up in the war and disease spreading around 14th century France.
A Plague Tale: Innocence will release May 14th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You can check out some interesting facts about the game you may not have known in the meantime.
