According to Robert W. Baird & Co. analyst Colin Sebastian, the Xbox One and PS4 are expected to ship 2.5 to 3 million units each in Q4 2013, with North American figures expected to be between 1.5 to 2 million units each.
Sebastian also stated that in regards to the PlayStation 4 having an advantage in the region, they expect “similar or even slightly higher sales of Xbox One” by the end of the launch window. “Our shipment unit forecasts are slightly below consensus of 3 million or more for each platform.”
While the PlayStation 4 launches on November 15th in North America and November 29th in Europe, the Xbox One will launch on November 22nd across 13 territories. This is against 32 territories for the PS4’s launch. Will this hinder the Xbox One when 2014 rolls around, or can we expect a heated battle between the two leading all the way into next year? Stay tuned as we get closer to the launch of both next-gen consoles.
