Anthem New Details Revealed About Endgame Activities, Character Progression, And More

The game will be quite open-ended and players will be able to continue developing their characters once they've hit the endgame.

Anthem is set to release next year and we’ve slowly been able to learn more details about the game. Now, thanks to an interview held by YouTuber Arekkz Gaming with the game’s director Jonathan Warner, we’ve been able to learn more about some new details regarding progression, end-game activities, and more.

It looks like the game will follow a similar structure to Destiny, in that it will be quite open ended, and the developers will continue to release story content after the game’s launch. Regarding what the main goal in the game will be, Warner stated, “The overarching goal is really to power up your javelins to the degree where you feel that you’re pretty legendary.”

The idea of ongoing activities and the game’s open ended nature is something that is explained by the world’s lore. Warner explained as follows, “This is an unfinished world by its gods. The gods have left, and left it in kind of a strange state and so that’s always a conflict that you’re going to engage in.” End game activities will also reset, so players will be able to keep doing them so as to progress further in the game.

Players will also be able to continue developing their Javelins without having to play through the campaign once they’ve reached the endgame. Regarding this, Warner stated, “As a pilot, you can have many different javelins. So not like a traditional RPG, where you start out and you pick a class … play for a few hours, start a new game and play it again … This allows you to get in and start leveling up your pilot and change javelins as you want and as you see fit.”

You can learn a lot more about the game from the full interview. Anthem is set to release for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on February 22, 2019.
