Apex Legends might be set in Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall universe, but there are certain things that are synonymous with Titanfall games that are nowhere to be found in the battle royale title. That includes things like wallrunning, or the titans (which is what the mechs in the series are called) themselves. However, new datamining efforts may have uncovered that at least one of those things might be making its way to Apex Legends soon.
Audio files found by GamingINTEL in Apex Legends include very clear and direct references to titans, with two instances of the host AI in matches specifically mentioning titans. As per these files, when an enemy player summons their titan, the host AI says “Caution: Titanfall approaching batttlefield”. Meanwhile if you’re the one who’s called a titan, the host will say “Standby for Titanfall” – a phrase fans of the series will be very familiar with.
There are other audio files directly referring to titans as well, spoken by the player characters themselves rather than by the host AI, such as when an enemy titan is destroyed, or when you spot an enemy titan (mostly likely when they are pinged). Additionally, there’s evidence to suggest that a new weapon is inbound as well, created specifically to deal with the threat of titans- that being a rocket launcher. The file for the rocket launcher, in fact, sits right next to a file called “energy_ar”- which we now know is the recently announced Havoc rifle.
These aren’t the only leaks we’ve had for Apex Legends in the past few days. Not too long ago, two new Legends were leaked as part of more datamining, while before that, other reports suggested that more squad options and vehicles might also be added to the game some time down the line.
For now, all of this remains unconfirmed of course, but stay tuned to GamingBolt, and we’ll let you know in case there are any developments on this front. Meanwhile, details on the game’s Battle Pass are going to be announced soon, so keep an eye out for those as well.
