Apex Legends Releasing for Mobiles in 2021 Fiscal Year

EA is also looking to launch a competitive gaming program with more details coming soon.

Electronic Arts has a couple of big games planned for the long term like Dragon Age 4 and the next Battlefield. You can add Apex Legends on mobile to that list as CEO Andrew Wilson confirmed a 2021 fiscal year release. When it will release in that window remains to be seen though.

In an earnings call following the company’s recent financial results, Wilson said, “With the Apex Legends community now growing past 70 million players, we’re focused on expanding to mobile new platforms and new geographies, as well as launching an Apex competitive gaming program that we’ll share details on soon.” By the sound of things, fans will have to wait at least another 1 to 1.5 years to play on mobile.

Then again, the publisher is also making plans to carry Apex Legends over to PS5 and Xbox Scarlett. Wilson noted recently that there is an opportunity to take the game to other regions as well (it’s already confirmed for China). While this may all be the cost of, say, Titanfall 3, Apex Legends is doing well enough to warrant this kind of focus from EA.

Apex Legends will have more content coming up in the next week. Duos mode will go live on November 5th and allow teams of two to play together. Expect more Legends, weapons and so on to also be added.
