Assassin’s Creed 4: Aveline’s Missions Range an Hour in Length

To be set after the events of Liberation.

It was recently revealed that Aveline de Grandpré, the protagonist of Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation, would make a cameo in the PS3 and PS4 versions of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Now lead writer Darby McDevitt has revealed on the developer’s blog just what you’ll be doing while playing as Aveline.

Her story will consist of three missions, totaling an hour in length, and will take place after the events of Liberation. “It’s a ways forward so Aveline is a bit older. It’s not directly related to the end of her story. If Assassin’s Creed IV is like a novel, Aveline’s missions are like a short story.” Her missions are currently being written by Jill Murray, who also wrote the story for Liberation.

McDevitt also explained at the San Diego Comic Con 2013 about how her mission’s sync up to the present story-line with Abstergo. “The present-day is set in Abstergo Entertainment–which is this fun, hip company to work for, at first. You are able to access the Aveline stuff because your coworkers are working on retrieving different genetic memories from all kinds of different people.”

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will release for PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U on October 29th in North America, with Q4 2013 release for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
