Assassin’s Creed Receiving Two Games in 2014?

Apparently, the franchise will see one current-gen and one next-gen game out next year.

Take this with a whole tub of salt, but honestly, stranger things have happened in the gaming industry. According to sources that spoke to the Examiner, Ubisoft is re-evaluating its strategy for the Assassin’s Creed franchise going forward. They also stated that the publisher will apparently be bringing two Assassin’s Creed game out in 2014.

While the first game will only be on next-gen consoles, namely the PS4 and Xbox One, the second game will be for current gen platforms such as the PS3 and Xbox 360. Does that mean both games will be coming to PC?

As it is, the strategy seems odd considering that Ubisoft Montreal got Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag working across six platforms when it launched with nary a hitch. Of course, considering the franchise’s success, Ubisoft could be considering an approach not all that different from releasing Assassin’s Creed III and ACIII: Liberation in the same year but for different platforms. Does that mean Rising Phoenix will be out this year? Stay tuned for more details.
