Babylon’s Fall was MIA for a long, long time following its initial announcement back in 2018, but finally resurfaced at E3 this year with new look and a new gameplay style. Since then, two closed beta tests for the game have come and gone, with developer PlatinumGames addressing feedback from players and making improvements to the experience. Now, the dates for the third closed beta test have also been revealed.
It’s been confirmed that the third beta will kick off for PS5 and PS4 players in Japan, Europe, and the US on November 15 and will run up till November 17, with applications for the beta being open from now until October 27. PlatinumGames says the purpose of this beta test will be to perform “functionality testing across various platforms, server stress tests involving a large number of players, and checks on the game systems.”
Meanwhile, the developer has also revealed the improvements it has made to the game in response to feedback from players during the previous closed beta. For starters, the game’s brushwork filter has been adjusted, and while the oil painting aesthetic of the game is still maintained, much greater detail has been added to make environments look sharper and make for better visibility.
“It has been re-worked so that background vistas still retain an oil painting feel, while fine details in the foreground, such as the ornamentations on cloth or the wood grain texture in flooring, are clear and easily discernible,” the developer writes. Check out the comparison in the images below.
Meanwhile, more adjustments have also been made to the game’s combat and action gameplay, including to how combos are strung together, new and unique actions for various weapons, movement speed, combat animations, and more. Check out how the combat is shaping up in the brief clip below.
Babylon’s Fall is in development for PS5, PS4, and PC. A release date for the game hasn’t yet been announced.
