Baldur’s Gate 3 Early Access Will Cost $60, Offers 25 Hours of Content

"Don't feel pressured to buy it during early access," says Larian's director of publishing Michael Douse.

Given the massive legacy of Baldur’s Gate as a series, and given the pedigree of Larian Studios as a developer, it’s no surprise that the upcoming Baldur’s Gate 3 is shaping up to be one of the biggest upcoming releases of the year. The fact that it’s looked like a welcome return for the franchise in all that we’ve seen for it has only served to drive up anticipation for its launch even further.

Though the game’s full launch is still a ways off, those anticipating its release are soon going to get the chance to dive into it with its upcoming early access release– which, it seems, is going to be a meaty one. Taking recently to Twitter, Larian’s director of publishing Michael Douse said that the early access version of the game will have 25 hours of content, and that the final game, obviously, is going to be even bigger. “Eventually, it’ll be a very large game,” Douse writes.

The early access release will come as a full-priced one though, which might go against what one usually expects from early access launches for games. Instead of releasing at a cheaper price, Baldur’s Gate 3’s early access version will cost the full $60- so think of it is a pre-order for the full game, I guess, but one that gives you plenty of content to dive into before the full release.

Baldur’s Gate 3 will launch into early access on on PC (via Steam) and Stadia on September 30. Here’s what your system will need to be able to run the game.
