Baldur’s Gate 3 has been a massive success for Larian Studios, but it hasn’t provided any sales figures following its exit from early access (having sold over 2.5 million during the period). However, Michael Douse, director of publishing, revealed that the acclaimed RPG went “way over ten” million players in a “very short space of time.”
Douse mentioned this in a thread about community moderation and communication following issues with mods. Official mod support is in the works for Baldur’s Gate 3, but there have been problems with patches and hotfixes breaking mods, resulting in issues for mod authors. Cromwell encouraged fans not to “get angry at mod authors, support teams, community or developers.
“Our focus is to patch the game while working on future mod support. I understand why it’s frustrating, so what we all need to do is focus on that future.” Mod support is planned for release later this year, with cross-platform support. Larian has a system in place, but it requires more work and testing. Until then, it will continue releasing patches and fixing issues.
