As it celebrates Baldur’s Gate 3 winning Game of the Year at the BAFTA Games Awards, Larian Studios is prepping for its next big patch. Patch 7 adds improved evil endings to the experience and promises “even darker conclusions” for the “most sinister playthroughs,” even if you’re not playing as The Dark Urge. It then posted two short GIFs of new cutscenes for the evil endings (be warned of spoilers).
The cutscenes also get new foreboding music courtesy of composer Borislav Slavov (who also won Best Composer at the BAFTAs). You can listen to one of these tracks, “March Of Darkness”, below. Slavov notes that dark endings result in “dark” music colors, and there’s an unmistakable undercurrent of dread.
Patch 7 doesn’t have a release date, but it’s looking to be one of the biggest yet, especially with the addition of official modding tools. A PC closed beta will be held to test its various features, for which Larian will share more details in the coming weeks.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. It’s estimated to have sold “almost double” of Divinity: Original Sin 2, which potentially means around 15 million sales. Despite this success, the studio is pursuing new projects and won’t deliver expansions or develop a Baldur’s Gate 4.
