DICE’s latest entry in the long-running first-person-shooter series, Battlefield 2042, has been met with lukewarm critical reception on launch, with criticism aimed at its lackluster multiplayer offerings and bug-ridden gameplay, among several other things.
The game’s Metacritic rating has stooped so low, in fact, that Battlefield 2042 now has the lowest rating amongst all entries in the franchise. Its PC version has the highest rating out of the lot, which stands at 70 at the time of writing, followed by the console versions that have the ratings in the 60s. Unsurprisingly, the user score is a lot lower than the critics score – with the game’s PC version having just a 2.9 user rating score.
We gave Battlefield 2042 a 7/10 in our review, citing numerous criticisms with balance and multiplayer modes. DICE is working on both balance patches and content additions.
Meanwhile, the game’s head of design has also left the company in favour of greener pastures. Battlefield 2042 has also received bunch of negative reviews on Steam – read more on that through here.
