Battlefield 2042 has had a rough launch, to say the very least, and DICE has started down the road to recovery for the multiplayer shooter. Of course, in addition to ongoing fixes and improvements, the game is also going to receive new content drops at regular intervals. Its first multiplayer season will bring some of that, and is currently set for vague early 2022 launch– but we may now have an idea of when exactly to expect it.
As spotted by @temporyal on Twitter, a datamining leak of Battlefield 2042 suggests that season 1 will kick off in March 2022, while 12 of what have been described as “preseason” weeks will lead up to it- though it remains to be seen exactly what that will entail.
One of things season 1 will bring with it is a new map called Exposure, and while DICE has previously said that that will “take map design to whole new level”, details on it have been scant up until now. As per this datamine, a key feature of the map, which is set in British Columbia in Canada, will be Black Ridge, a Canadian-US research facility base. The facility and the area around it have been damaged in a landslide, which is apparently going to be another defining trait of the map.
Of course, this is unconfirmed information so far, but hopefully DICE will be detailing what exactly season 1 will bring (and when it will bring it) in the near future. Stay tuned for all updates on that front.
Battlefield 2042 is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
