Battlefield 2042 Will Launch Without Voice Chat

It's coming after launch, though DICE has yet to specify when exactly that will be. The official launch is currently set for November 19th.

DICE’s Battlefield 2042 is currently available in early access for Gold and Ultimate Edition owners, and responses have been mixed thus far. Removed features from previous titles (like a “Medic nearby” indicator) are just some of the major criticisms that it’s been facing. Unfortunately, it seems the shooter will be missing another key feature at launch – voice chat.

The developer confirmed the same to Polygon and though it didn’t explain the reason, work is currently ongoing to add it after release. When this will happen remains to be seen. As such, there are other options like pinging though it’s far from intuitive and often fails to mark certain things. If you’re playing with friends, Discord remains the way to go.

Battlefield 2042 releases on November 19th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC. Despite being billed as the biggest Battlefield title yet, it’s reportedly faced troubled development cycle. Rumors also indicate that it used to be battle royale title, with Apex Legends being a “big” inspiration. Stay tuned for more updates en route to launch.
