Battlefield 5 – Firestorm Receives New Details On Map, Objectives, Vehicles, And More

The mode touts the largest Battlefield map ever made.

EA finally confirmed the official launch date of Battlefield 5’s battle royale mode, Firstorm recently, which will be going live later this month. We’ve been able to get some details on the mode through unverified leaks and reports so far, but now, we’ve got some coming through official channels, with EA putting up an update that gives the lowdown on some key aspects of the upcoming battle royale experience.

Some details that have been confirmed are things we’ve known about for a while- each match will see a maximum of 64 players, with 16 squads of 4 players each vying for supremacy- no mention of any other variants has been made. Matches in Firestorm will be tied to your overarching Company progression, while destruction mechanics and vehicular combat will, of course, be part of the experience as well.

The map, interestingly enough, is being called the largest map ever created for a Battlefield game. “Securing Objectives and controlling key landmarks will define most confrontations,” the update reads, “but how you and your squad get there – and how well equipped you are when you do – will never be the same.”

What’s most interesting is that each match will also have added wrinkles of Objectives, similar to the Conquest mode. While some Objectives will be tied to specific locations in the map, others will be handed out at random “with varying types of supplies, weapons, and vehicles”. “Work with your squad to play the Objectives and unlock the most valuable gear to increase your chances at being the last ones standing,” reads the update.

Battlefield 5 is currently available on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Firestorm goes live for free for all owners of the game on March 25.
