Battlefield 5 Microtransactions Limited To Cosmetics Only – Report

EA learning from the Battlefront fiasco.

The loot boxes fiasco surrounding Star Wars: Battlefront 2 was probably one of the biggest controversies last year, and it’s becoming more and more obvious each day that developers and publishers across the industry have been affected by it (hopefully for the better). EA and DICE, too, seem to be learning from their mistakes- or so it seems.

As per a report by KotakuBattlefield 5, which is due out later this year, will have a microtransactions system, albeit one that will be significantly changed from last year’s Battlefront 2. Unlike the Star Wars game, which essentially featured pay-to-win mechanics, the microtransactions in the upcoming Battlefield V will be for cosmetic items and purchases only. “No one’s gonna do any pay-to-win stuff anymore,” Kotaku’s source said. “We didn’t take any of the loot box controversy lightly.”

As per recent leaks and reports, the upcoming shooter is going to be called Battlefield V, and will be set in the backdrop of World War 2. You can get more details on that here.
