One thing that all fans of the horror genre agree on when it comes to video games, is that audio is a vital component of the games overall ability to frighten and enthral the player.
Just to reinforce my point, the games Director, Shinji Mikami, has said “One of the most crucial elements to any successful survival horror game is the setting and sound, which includes the depth and authenticity of the voice acting. We brought together a great cast of experienced actors to help ensure that players really believe our characters’ emotions and the tension they feel in every scene.” With that in mind, it would appear that Bethesda Softworks understands this and have decided to wrangle up a cast of voice actors that is of considerable talent and will undoubtedly bring some much need life to the game.
On the VO cast, we have:
Jackie Earle Haley, the academy award nominee who recently depicted the horror icon, Freddy Krueger, in the Nightmare on Elm street remake. Jackie will be providing the voice of the game’s main antagonist, Ruvik.
Anson Mount, who starred as Cullen Bohannon on AMC’s Hell on Wheels will be taking up the role of the game’s protagonist, Sebastian Castellanos.
Jennifer Carpenter, who played Dexter Morgan in the hit TV show Dexter, will be playing the character, Juli Kidman. Juli is a junior detective and is Sebastians partner.
With a cast like that and a Director as respected as Shinji Mikami, The Evil Within may well prove to be a real hit with gamers.
