Beyond Good and Evil 2 was an announcement that many had been dreaming about for years, and when Ubisoft finally unveiled the game, the general mood was one of elation. Of course, things have steadily declined since then. It’s been years since the sequel was first announced, and in that time, updates on it have dried up almost completely, to the point that many are now wondering whether it will ever even release.
Well, it will. Or at least that’s what Ubisoft is saying right now. In the company’s recent quarterly earnings call, CFO Frédérick Duguet said that though development is progressing well, it’s still “too early” to say anything about the game yet. He said (via IGN): “We’ve progressed well with Beyond Good and Evil 2, but it’s too early to tell you at this stage.”
It’s not the first time that we’ve seen Ubisoft executives giving similar assurances about Beyond Good and Evil 2.
Meanwhile, recently it also emerged that the game’s development studio, Ubisoft Montpellier, is also working on second as-of-yet unannounced project.
Beyond Good and Evil 2 isn’t the only major upcoming AAA game that’s been mysteriously MIA for a prolonged time and clearly been through the grinder in its development. A recent report cataloged the long and torturous development of upcoming multiplayer pirate action game Skull and Bones. Read more on that through here.
