Blizzard Clarifies Recent Diablo 3 Tweet, Not Announcing Switch Version

"We can assure you we're not that clever" says the company.

Blizzard Entertainment had quite a people intrigued recently when it unveiled a tweet containing nightlight of Diablo being switched on and off. Many presumed this to be a clever hint that Diablo 3 would be coming to the Nintendo Switch at some point. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case for now.

Speaking to Polygon, a Blizzard spokesperson said that, “We can assure you we’re not that clever. [It was] meant to be a fun community engagement piece. We have nothing to announce.” The keys word here are “nothing to announce”, which isn’t a complete denial.

Of course, Blizzard does love its teases. The developer has indirectly indicated that remasters will be coming for Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3 with the latter receiving significant patches and a professional invitational recently. However, it still hasn’t confirmed whether either remaster is in development.

Diablo 3 is currently available for Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. It’s seen great success on consoles so the company is no stranger to bringing the game to non-PC formats. Besides, with the success of the Nintendo Switch, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see Blizzard wanting a piece of that pie. Stay tuned for more information to see if Diablo 3 actually comes to Switch or not at some point.
