At this point, there are several first party PlayStation Studios that have no officially announced upcoming projects, and one in particular that has generated a healthy amount of rumours and speculation is Bluepoint Games. And while we still don’t have any clear indication of what it is that the developer is working on next, the studio itself seems to be teasing its mysterious new project.
Over on the PlayStation Blog, Sony has compiled and posted Holiday greetings cards from a bunch of first and third party developers. Bluepoint is, of course, included in that group, and its card (which you can check out below) is cheekily teasing the studio’s next game.
It shows four presents, three of which have props in front of them representing the three most recent projects Bluepoint has worked on- the PS5 Demon’s Souls remake is the leftmost one, the PS4 Shadow of the Colossus remake is on the extreme right, with God of War Ragnarok (which the studio did support work on) next to it. The fourth present is noticeably bare and has no prop in front of it, which makes this the most opaque way to tease a new game- but it is a tease nonetheless.
What it could be referring to is anyone’s best guess at this point, though leaks and rumours have claimed to know. Bluepoint itself has only said that its next project isn’t going to be a remake but will instead be “original content”. According to leaks, that refers to a Bloodborne sequel– but as we’ve all learned by now, rumours related to Bloodborne was best taken with a healthy pinch of salt.
