Borderlands 3’s Main Story Is 35 Hours, According To Creative Director

The developers are promising the third game will be a long haul.

The next game in the spiritual father of the looter shooter craze is rapidly approaching us in the form of Borderlands 3. The Borderlands games have always offered a pretty good amount of content, whether you decide to play solo or with some friends. How about the third? Well, the Creative Director on the game is promising it is no different, if not offering even more.

While speaking with GamesBeat, Creative Director Paul Sage said the game has a pretty hefty amount of content. He said that even without going after much side content, you could get a good 35 hours out of Borderlands 3‘s main story. Pack that with side content, as well as the continued support the game will undoubtedly get, and we’re probably in for a lot of loot and shoot.

“I’d still say we were very ambitious,” said Sage. “My tech team would say we were really ambitious sometimes. [laughs] There’s so much to the game. We go to these different worlds. The length of the game being 35 hours, if you just go through the main story — that’s not including doing too many side missions. I think there was a lot of ambition right at the beginning.”

Borderlands 3 will release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on September 13th. While you wait, don’t forget that a special mission was released for Borderlands 2 that will bridge the gap into the next game, which you can check out now.
