Call of Duty 2014 Job Listing Indicates Vehicular Destruction, Current Gen Development

Activision's next gen-optimized title still seems destined for current gen consoles.

Sledgehammer Games is up next to carry forth the Call of Duty banner and it seems that the 2014 release of the hit first person shooter will feature vehicular destruction and still try to cater to PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers.

This was revealed in a job listing for a temporary VFX Artist, where “candidates will have the opportunity to contribute in various areas of in-game effects including but not excluding weaponry effects, vehicle destruction, large-scaled rigid body simulations and environmental effects such as fire, smoke, water, and weather system.

It also called for “At least 2 to 3 years of next-gen visual effects development on console hardware (360, PS3)” and “Experience with and a good working knowledge of the limitations and expectations of current generation hardware (360, PS3).”

The above is interesting because Activision has stated that Call of Duty 2014 will prioritize next gen consoles in its development. Given the market for current gen gamers though, we don’t blame them for trying to cater to as many consumers as possible. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
