Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Dev Can’t Add More Guns for Previous Gen

Memory limits prevent Xbox 360 and PS3 players from receiving any more new weapons.

Due to memory restrictions on the Xbox 360 and PS3, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare developer Sledgehammer Games has revealed that it won’t be able to add new weapons on those consoles.

Responding to fan requests for more weapons, co-founder Michael Condrey stated that, “Many of you have asked about [the guns] coming to prior-gen consoles. Since launch, we’ve been committed to delivering a seamless experience between the two console generations and PC. We have hit a hard memory limit on last-generation consoles.

“This memory limit prevents us from adding more weapons to those platforms. We don’t like it any more than you, because we care about Advanced Warfare players on all platforms, but it’s a limitation that is outside of our control.”

PS3 and Xbox 360 players will still receive the remaining DLC packs for Advanced Warfare though. This opens up questions for Bungie’s Destiny, another Activision-published game which keeps adding new weapons with each DLC pack. Vault space has already become a problem with the online shooter with restrictions in expansion due to previous gen consoles. Will it eventually hit a wall with regards to other features? We’ll find out in the coming years.
