Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey, the studio heads over at the monolithic development studio Sledgehammer Games recently spoke out in an interview about the design aesthetic and the influencing factors for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
Glen talks about “looking to the past to influence the future”, specifically when he talks about the lack of future technology that isn’t influenced by sci-fi design. Micheal Condry goes on to talk about building a believable world that immerses the player because it actually carries a sense of realism – he likens it to the world of multi-award winning futuristic science fiction thriller, District 9.
They go on to talk about how staying conservative with design methods, but basing them on real world developing technologies. Using this design approach certainly makes the game look somewhat similar to other future based shooter games like Titanfall, but with a distinctly “Call of Duty” influence. Either way, you’re going to be getting a shooter that has an equal mix of sci-fi influence and real life tech.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be out on November 4th for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC.
