Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will support dedicated servers according studio co-founder Michael Condrey.
Speaking to Stevivor, Condrey stated that, “We’ve got some announcements coming. Yes, we will be supporting dedicated servers and there will be announcements soon on which providers and platforms. I can’t answer just yet, but you can let your community know that it’s coming.”
Dedicated servers were also present in last year’s Call of Duty: Ghosts and are generally preferred over peer-to-peer multiplayer since they don’t rely on the players’ internet connectivity, instead connecting you via the server closest to your location. Details on how dedicated servers will work in Advanced Warfare remain to be seen but it’s a step in the right direction.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be out on November 4th for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC. Will you be picking it up? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
