Call of Duty Black Ops 3: Old Maps And Weapons, Specialist Characters, Level Cap And More

David Vonderhaar shed some light on what to expect when the beta launches.

With the Beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops moving ever closer, there have been a number of questions about what gamers can expect to see. The design director at Treyarch, David Vonderhaar did his best to answer a number of those questions from Twitter users recently and while he couldn’t be specific about everything that was asked, he was able to fill in some of the blanks that had formed surrounding the game.

One question centered around whether or not the development team was thinking about bringing old weapons and maps from previous iterations in the series to the Black Ops 3. Vonderhaar answered that it certainly isn’t off the table but that was easier said than done at this point. Specialists were recently unveiled in a big way as well as scorestreaks. Now, the design director is shedding a bit more light on those characters. Asked whether they need to be unlocked or are there from the start, Vonderhaar said that about half of the specialists are gated by level and unlocked by tokens. He added that they all have their own progression.

Finally, the exec talked, although incredibly vaguely about whether or not there is going to be a level cap during the beta. He answered that there are plans for that sort of thing, but wasn’t willing to say what those plans actually are. He answered “yes and no” and wouldn’t shed any more light on what those plans might be. Looks like we’ll get to see what those plans are when the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta launches. The full game launches for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC this November.
