Amidst a possible announcement teaser dropping today and other recent hints, Activision has confirmed to VentureBeat that Treyarch’s next Call of Duty title is indeed Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. It’s even been denoted as “Black Ops IIII” so that Roman numeral hint the other day was actually quite accurate.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be releasing worldwide on October 12th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. There will be a special event to reveal the title on May 17th which will likely contain more information on the setting, multiplayer, story and what changes can be expected this time around.
Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops series has been its bread and butter since the first game debuted in November 2010. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 took things into the future with heavy sci-fi tropes like nano-machines, killer robots and whatnot. However, given the success of Call of Duty: WW2, it remains to be seen if Black Ops 4 will go down the same route.
