Infinity Ward has revealed on Twitter that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will not be heading to the PlayStation 3. This was in answer to a user’s tweet and while Xbox 360 wasn’t mentioned, you can bet that previous gen consoles will be ruled out entirely.
Previous year’s entry Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 did release for the Xbox 360 and PS3 but it was handled by Beenox and Mercenary Technology. It lacked a number of features from the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions including Campaign Mode. The visuals were also severely downgraded as well, fueling speculation that Activision would be leaving behind PS3 and Xbox 360 once the current gen install base was large enough.
With the PS4 selling more than 40 million units and the Xbox One apparently at 20 million units, it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world to see Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare on the current generation platforms alone. Regardless, stay tuned for more news on the same as we near the game’s November 4th release.
