The open beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer concluded on September 26th and saw quite a strong response. According to an official post, it was the biggest in Call of Duty history. It was “one for the record books,” with the most players, hours and matches played across all five platforms.
It wasn’t without its mixed reactions, though. Players complained about visibility issues (which persisted despite adjustments to muzzle flash and opacity), the new mini-map (where a UAV is necessary to enemy players), and the new Perk Package system. Dead Silence as a Field Upgrade instead of a perk, and the user interface, particularly with Gunsmith, also didn’t go over well.
At the very least, Infinity Ward will increase the chance of lobbies staying together and tweaking perk earn rates for all modes. It will also address Gunsmith UI issues and bugs in the full release. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is out on October 28th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC. Stay tuned for more details on other potential changes based on beta feedback in the coming weeks.
