PS4 has been the place to play Call of Duty for the last few years. Thanks to Activision’s exclusive marketing deal with Sony, PS4 owners usually get early access to post-launch content for Call of Duty title every year, with Xbox One and PC players having to wait for the timed exclusivity period to end to get access to the same content. With the upcoming Modern Warfare though, that won’t be the case.
In a new blog update on Activision’s official website, the developers confirmed that most post-launch content for the game, including any new maps and multiplayer modes, will release on all platforms at the same time.
“Most Post-launch gameplay content, including new multiplayer maps, new multiplayer modes, special ops missions and more will release simultaneously across all platforms,” the developer wrote.
That said, that doesn’t mean PS4 owners won’t get no benefits- Activision does have a marketing deal to abide by, after all. PS4 players will get some Day 1 bonuses with Modern Warfare, which Activision will be detailing at a later date.
“Call of Duty is excited to continue its partnership with PlayStation, including last weekend’s PS4 debut of the Modern Warfare Open Beta as well as the recent PS4 exclusive 2v2 Alpha,” the blog update reads. “But the best is yet to come. For the very first time in our partnership with PlayStation, PS4 players will have an exciting Day 1 advantage. More details on how Call of Duty will continue to support PlayStation as the best place to play Modern Warfare will be rolled out soon.”
Call of Duty: Modern Warfareis out on October 25th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The game’s cross-play beta begins tomorrow, and cross-play gameplay will also be shown in livestream soon.
