After a much longer wait than usual, we finally got a small taste of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare‘s multiplayer (though we still have to wait until next month for the full course). But talking about multiplayer, we got some welcome news in the form of free maps post-release.
In the same press release that announced we’d get our full look at multiplayer on August 1, Activision also slipped in that due to the end of the season pass model the series has employed for years, we’ll see free maps coming to the game’s multiplayer post-release. What that release schedule will look like is anyone’s guess at this point, but it’s welcome edition since paid maps have, historically, worked to split the playerbase. We have seen listings for DLC packs for the game, however, so there will be some paid content though, again, what that’ll end up being is anyone’s guess right now. We’ll keep you in the loop.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will release October 25th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The full multiplayer reveal is slated to hit on August 1st.
