Call of Duty: Vanguard Will Have a “Significantly” Smaller Install Size on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC

Activision confirms that "new on-demand texture streaming tech" will cut down the install size by 30%-50% on PC and new-gen consoles.

Games have been leveraging the improved hardware of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S to cut down their file sizes more and more frequently. Especially on the PS5, recent major releases like Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Tales of Arise have had significantly smaller file sizes than their PS4 counterparts. Another game that’ll be following suit is Call of Duty.

Activision’s shooter series has a reputation for having ridiculously large file sizes with each of its new yearly releases, but thankfully, at least on a few platforms, that will be addressed to some degree by Call of Duty: Vanguard. Taking to Twitter, Activision recently confirmed that thanks to “new on-demand texture streaming tech”, on the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, Call of Duty: Vanguard will require about 30%-50% less storage space than previous Call of Duty games. That’s a pretty significant improvement, though of course, it does leave one to wonder what PS4 and Xbox One players will have to deal with.

Call of Duty: Vanguard launches for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 5.
