Capcom has confirmed that PC buyers account for roughly half of the total sales of its games. In a newly-published transcript of the Q&A session of the company’s FY 2025 Q3 financial reports, it was asked about its decision to focus on advanced PC-specific features for Resident Evil Requiem, as well as its future strategy for PC as a platform. The company responded by saying that it expects PC sales to continue rising, and that it is working to further strengthen its PC games.
“As of the third quarter, PC sales account for approximately 50 percent of total unit sales, and we expect this ratio to continue increasing,” explained Capcom. “Accordingly, we will further strengthen our PC development framework. The technical expertise gained from addressing increasing program complexity and performance challenges in Monster Hunter Wilds will be applied to future title development.”
Capcom had notably applied many of its resources in fixing the performance issues that have plagued Monster Hunter Wilds on PC since its launch last year. These efforts culminated in the release of the February update, which introduced many changes to the game’s internals to reduce CPU and GPU processing loads with techniques like additional Levels of Detail (LOD) for 3D models, and optimized monster and endemic life spawn-time processing.
As for whether or not Capcom expects any impacts on its businesses owing to the global memory shortages, which have caused RAM prices to skyrocket, the company responded that it will continue to monitor the situation for potential medium-term and long-term impact. However, for the time being, it hasn’t seen any impact from the memory shortage.
“At present, there has been no material impact,” it said. “However, we will continue to monitor potential medium- to long-term effects.”
