Resident Evil Requiem officially released earlier today for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2, and as expected, it’s off to a roaring start. On Steam, it recently reached 310,782 peak concurrent players, making it the franchise’s biggest launch on the platform.
How big? Resident Evil 4 Remake, which had no shortage of its own hype, peaked at 168,191 over its lifetime. Resident Evil Village ranks third with 106,631 peak concurrent players. Considering how the former is based on one of the most beloved games of all time and the latter was the last mainline entry, this is a massive accomplishment for Requiem. In terms of overall releases from the publisher, it’s ranked fifth on Steam, just behind Monster Hunter World (and the weekend hasn’t even begun).
Of course, all the signs were there for its success. Capcom announced over one million wishlists mere weeks after announcing the title in June 2025. Those numbers seemingly skyrocketed in December with the reveal of Leon S. Kennedy as the other protagonist. According to Alinea Analytics, it reportedly hit 2.5 million wishlists as of February 10th and became Steam’s third most-wishlisted title behind Subnautica 2 and Forza Horizon 6.
