Ubisoft’s Child of Light, an RPG platforming hybrid created in the UbiArt Framework engine, is now available for Sony’s PlayStation Vita. The game takes place in fairy-tale-esque setting as Princess Aurora struggles to regain the Sun, the Moon and the Stars from the Queen of the Night in order to save her father, the Duke.
Child of Light’s platforming elements are fairly simplistic, relying on careful navigation and illumination of key areas, but its combat is decidedly more complex. Taking a page out of Grandia’s handbook, you can get the drop on enemies (or be ambushed). This takes you to a battle screen wherein the objective is to interrupt attacks and smite foes, dealing elemental damage while trying to not get overwhelmed. Fortunately, you’ll have a colourful cast of party members, which includes Aurora’s elder sister, to help you out.
Child of Light is also currently available on Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Wii U and PC.
