Earlier this year, Remedy Entertainment announced that it had acquired the full rights to the Control IP from 505 Games, the publisher of the series’ first instalment, following which there were a fair few who wondered what the publishing arrangements were going to look like for the in-development Control 2.
Now, Remedy has announced that it has entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with Annapurna Interactive that will see the latter co-financing the development of Control 2. Meanwhile, Control 2 is going to be published by Remedy Entertainment itself, which will be a first for the studio.
“We’re super excited to get Annapurna on board,” said creative director Mikael Kasurinen and executive producer Juha Vainio. “Annapurna’s creative values align perfectly with ours, making them an inspiring partner for the journey ahead. We at Remedy have been working on Control 2 for a while already, it’s looking amazing, and we feel Annapurna is the perfect partner to work with as the game development is moving forward towards production and eventually across the finish line.”
Earlier this month, Remedy Entertainment revealed that Control 2 had entered the “production readiness” stage of development. The studio is currently also working on co-op multiplayer spinoff set in the Control universe. Potentially set to be titled FBC: Firebreak, the game entered full production earlier this year.
Remedy and Annapurna’s strategic agreement will also see the latter bringing the former’s Control and Alan Wake franchises to “film, TV, and beyond”. Read more on that through here.
