Control: Ultimate Edition for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S Delayed to Early 2021

"We need a bit more time to work on it," says the developer.

Control was definitely one of the best games to launch in 2019, and was a fine example of current-gen hardware being pushed to its absolute limits in terms of both visuals and performance. Next-gen versions will do this game a lot of good, but the Ultimate Edition release, which was originally planned for later this year, will be coming a bit later than expected.

Taking to Twitter, developer Remedy Entertainment confirmed that the launch of Control: Ultimate Edition on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S has been pushed back to early 2021, since the studio needs more time to work on the game. “We want the final quality of the game to be awesome, and so we need a bit more time to work on it,” Remedy writes.

Control: Ultimate Edition won’t support free next-gen upgrades on either PlayStation or Xbox, which is something that has drawn the ire of quite few people.

Control is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It recently also launched on the Nintendo Switch as a cloud-exclusive release. You can read our reviews for Control and its The Foundation and AWE expansions through the links.
