Crackdown 3 is still very much alive and if Xbox boss Phil Spencer’s reassurances weren’t enough, Microsoft Studios art director Dave Johnson recently announced during an Extra Life livestream that it would be out in holiday 2017 “or earlier”. NeoGAF also pointed out Johnson’s confirmation of 4K resolution support for Microsoft’s Project Scorpio, which is also slated to release in holiday 2017.
The obvious assumption is that Crackdown 3, besides being delayed for additional polish and development time, is also being spruced up as a major showcase title for Project Scorpio. It’s only an assumption but it does seem awfully convenient.
Crackdown 3’s open multiplayer beta was slated to launch in Summer 2016 but the game was subsequently delayed into 2017. Along with Xbox One, it will also be releasing for Windows 10 PCs.
