Cuphead Launches On Nintendo Switch Next Month, Xbox Live Integration Coming With Post-Launch Update

It seems there may have been some truth in those rumors after all.

It seems as though all of those rumors may have been true. Kicking off their indie presentation today in style, Nintendo announced that, thanks to “their friends at Microsoft”, Cuphead will be launching on the Nintendo Switch—as early as April 18! You can actually pre-order it on the eShop now. It will be $19.99 on the Nintendo Switch, the same as on other platforms.

Cuphead on Nintendo Switch will include Xbox Live integration, including Achievements, though this Xbox Live functionality won’t be available right at launch, and will be added in a post-launch update some time, Microsoft confirmed. That said, the game will get DLC day and date with other platforms going forward.

Given that Xbox Live on Switch and Cuphead on Switch are now both happening, other possibilities pertaining to the original rumors are now raised—what about Ori and the Blind Forest, which was supposed to be coming to the Switch? How about Game Pass and xCloud? Is it possible that we’re actually going to see something like that happen?

For now, those remain unanswered questions—but for now, we can look forward to enjoying Cuphead on the Switch. Which it is perfect for.
