Cyberpunk 2077 Has Entered Final Stages Of Pre-Release, Per Developer

The game's development is entering its final stages.

It’s fair to say that Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most anticipated games coming next year. The game has huge ambition level, so much so that some people are wondering if that April 2020 date is, itself, a little too ambitious. The developer themselves has said it’s a “tight deadline,” and today we got a vague idea of where the game’s development is.

CD Projekt RED released their third quarter financial statement, which you can read in full here. Overall, it was a pretty good quarter for the company with revenue increasing year over year slightly even if operating profits decreased slightly. In the statement about increased spending, they said it was due to Cyberpunk 2077‘s cost, and that it’s entered the final stages of development.

“In Q3 2019 the bulk of the Group’s consolidated Fixed assets was represented by Expenditures on development projects which aggregate the Group’s ongoing expenses on development of new videogames and technologies. The reported increase in this line item comes mainly from development of Cyberpunk 2077, which has now entered its final, most intensive pre-release stage.”

What exactly the “final, most intensive” stage actually is isn’t clear, but it seems as if the game is moving towards that gold status. The game will launch in April 16th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia and PC. So, they still have a decent amount of time. Fingers crossed they manage to make it work.
