CD Projekt RED have been talking about how much emphasis Cyberpunk 2077 puts on player agency, not just in terms of how the story plays out, but with a web of gameplay mechanics that allows multiple ways to play as well. There will be numerous skills and abilities players will be able to use depending on how their V progresses- one of these was going to be wall-running, which CD Projekt RED first talked about a couple of years ago.
However, it seems like the final game will not have that feature. Speaking to Gamereactor, Cyberpunk 2077 Max Pears said that the wall-running was something that had to be cut out during development because of “design reasons,” before adding that players will still have plenty of flexibility in how they choose to move around and traverse environments.
“Ah, the wall running,” Pears said. “That is something that we removed due to design reasons. But there’s still going to be a lot of flexibility in how you move, that’s for sure.”
Cyberpunk 2077 is due out for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 19, with a Stadia version coming later in the year. It will also see a dedicated release on PS5 and Xbox Series X in 2021.
