Cyberpunk 2077 Won’t Be Present At The Game Awards 2018

Community lead Marcin Momot says more details will be shared "when we're ready."

The Game Awards 2018 will be taking place this Thursday, and as usual, there’s quite a bit of hype around the announcements and world premieres. After all, with teases for games like The Last of Us: Part 2 and Death Stranding possible being in the pipeline, who couldn’t be excited? Unfortunately, one game that won’t be present at the ceremony is CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077.

Community lead Marcin Momot confirmed as much on Twitter. “We’re looking forward to seeing all the reveals and announcements during this year’s @thegameawards, however we’re not going to be showing anything there ourselves,” he wrote. “We’ll share more details about @cyberpunkgame when we’re ready.”

The developer had showcased an hour-long gameplay demo behind closed doors at E3 2018. It then released this to the public and garnered quite lot of praise, despite game director Adam Badowski stating, “Many of the assets and mechanics in the current version of Cyberpunk 2077 are most likely to be modified”. The demo itself has garnered over 11 million views on YouTube since its initial reveal.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently in development for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Meanwhile, The Game Awards will be taking place on December 6th at 6 PM PT/9 PM ET. It will have more than 10 new game announcements and trailers for games like BioWare’s Anthem.
