Cyberpunk 2077 Won’t Force Combat Styles, Bending Bullets Confirmed

CD Projekt RED confirms that "stealth tactics" are also part of the player's repertoire.

There’s been a wealth of information revealed about CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 since E3 2018. After the hour-long, behind-closed-doors gameplay demo showcased to the media, we learned of the game’s vibrant world and numerous options. Class fluidity is especially important and while mixing different abilities together to create a unique kit is encouraged, this is further reinforced with the combat.

On its Cyberpunk 2077 Facebook page, CD Projekt RED responded to fan (aka Reddit user OmerRDT) regarding the game’s stealth elements. Though it didn’t explicitly confirm if there would be a silenced pistol, the developer said that players wouldn’t be forced into one particular combat style.

“Enemies won’t always be aware of the player,” the developer wrote. “The player can utilize this to their advantage by sneaking up on unsuspecting enemies, laying various traps or deploying viruses. The plan of attack is just as important as executing it.”

“We never force players to adopt any particular style of combat, so they’re always free to use what they think is the best possible solution at a given time. From shooting through walls, to bending bullets over corners – stealth tactics are also a part of your repertoire.”

Shooting through walls was already known, but bending bullets around corners? Now that’s what we’re talking about. Unfortunately, Cyberpunk 2077 is still in pre-alpha stage with the behind-closed-doors demo being the most polished segment of the game thus far. It will be seen again at Gamescom, but whether the exact same demo will be showcased, that too for the public at large, has yet to be confirmed.
