Microsoft recently dropped some significant new details on the upcoming Xbox Series X, talking about its 12 Teraflops of GPU, other new hardware specs, and multiple new features that the console will launch with. One such feature that they detailed is Smart Delivery, which allows you to play the best possible version of a game that’s on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X with just a single purchase- essentially a cross-buy feature. It’s an option that Microsoft says is open to all developers and publishers.
One major developer who will be making use of Smart Deliver in their game is CD Projekt RED. Taking to Twitter via Cyberpunk 2077’s official handle, the Polish developer has confirmed that all owners of the upcoming open world RPG on the Xbox One will automatically receive the game’s Xbox Series X upgrade for free as soon as it becomes available. Says the developer, “Gamers should never be forced to purchase the same game twice or pay for upgrades.”
Cyberpunk 2077 is due out on September 17. CD Projekt RED and Nvidia recently also confirmed GeForce Now support for the game.
