Dark Souls 3 Release Date Leaked, Launches In Early 2016

Okay, so can we just agree that this is happening at this point?

The Dark Souls 3 leak saga has been very interesting to follow for the last few weeks now. Originally, it was leaked to be announced at E3, but without any supporting evidence or data, which made it possible to dismiss it as another in series of manufactured, false leaks made to gain attention before E3. Then, we had a huge information dump last week, that was very convincing, and made it seem pretty clear that Dark Souls 3 was a real thing (it helped that it was accompanied by a load of screenshots).

And now, here we are- IGN has gained access to a promotional image of the game, which you can see above, which seems to hint that the game is releasing in Early 2016. Oh, did we mention that it pretty much confirms the previous series of leaks as well? I mean, at this point this is pretty much a given. Where there is smoke, there is fire, after all.

In this case, we seem to have fire in a very literal sense, as we can see our hero aflame in the picture. That, coupled with the new bonfire mechanics that the leak last week hinted as, as well as concept art that showed something interesting going on with the sun, seems to indicate that fire will be even more central to Dark Souls 3 than it was in previous games.

As of right now, we know nothing about Dark Souls 3, but it is anticipated to hit PS4 and Xbox One early next year, with a later PC release to follow. Stay tuned.
