Darkest Dungeon 2 Exits Early Access on May 8th

A free demo is available until February 13th as part of Steam Next Fest and includes the four starting heroes with two regions to explore.

After suffering a delay from its previous February release, Darkest Dungeon 2 will exit early access on May 8th. It will be available for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Before the 1.0 update, Red Hook Studios will release a “few major updates,” including a “big one VERY soon.”

Darkest Dungeon 2 will have 12 heroes, five regions and five major bosses at launch. Those curious about the mechanics can check out a free demo during Steam Next Fest, which runs from today until February 13th. The four starting heroes are available, and you can venture through the Sprawl or Foetor. Progress isn’t saved between runs, so the meta-progression likely won’t be available.

Red Hook Studios will host a Q&A on February 7th at 11 AM PT with creative director Chris Bourassa and design director Tyler Sigman, followed by a gameplay livestream on February 8th at 1 PM PT. Darkest Dungeon 2 is also in development for consoles, though these will release after the PC version. Stay tuned for more details in the coming days.
