Well, David Hayter has not been a happy man for almost 3 years now. The day he was removed by Hideo Kojima from the role of Big Boss in the critically acclaimed Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, many fans speculated that Hayter was trolling and he will be returning as Solid Snake in The Phantom Pain. That did not happened and to make matters funnier, Jade Raymond publicly stated during last month’s The Game Awards, that no one can imagine a Metal Gear game without David Hayter, with Kiefer Sutherland sitting in the audience.
Now according to a report by CNN it seems that Sutherland will not be returning to star in 24, a show that he is famous for. This is similar to Hayter being recasted for Metal Gear Solid, a series that he is well known for. This situation was tailor made for Hayter to make some remarks and possibly take jabs. He stated, “No way, You can’t just replace an icon like @RealKiefer. The man defines the series.” Furthermore, he stated that he was serious and none of his word were a lie. This comment obviously resulted into a fan reactions to which Hayter stated, “So many. So easily riled.”
I don’t blame the man. He IS Snake and replacing him was a dumb move by Kojima given that Sutherland barely had any lines in The Phantom Pain. But on the other, it’s not Sutherland’s fault that he was casted as Snake. He is an actor and merely took on the role for Snake. He does not deserve the receive the hate from the hardcore fans of the series.
All I can say to David Hayter is what Rose told Raiden at the end of that amazing Metal Gear Raiden: Snake Eraser video.
“There is going to be Metal Gear Solid 6, right?”
No way, You can't just replace an icon like @RealKiefer . The man defines the series. https://t.co/ByuoddxVR6
