Dead Space Remake Announced for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC

Rebuilt from the ground up with the Frostbite Engine, the remake of the 2008 horror classic promises gameplay and visual improvements.

Electronic Arts closed its EA Play Live show with a peek at Dead Space. That’s right – the acclaimed third person shooter/horror series is being revived with Motive Studios in charge of development (as the rumors indicated). It will be coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC.

While not showcasing any gameplay or even a release window, the teaser trailer did provide some game engine footage showcasing a Necromorph in the distance before cutting to Isaac Clarke’s back. Based on the first game, this is a remake that’s been rebuilt from the ground up with the Frostbite Engine. This allows for improved visual fidelity and gameplay improvements but it will stay true to the spirit of the original.

Dead Space originally released in 2008 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, and featured engineer Isaac Clarke as he boarded the USG Ishimura to search for his partner Nicole. Things quickly go downhill as Isaac and his crew are assaulted by Necromorphs, grotesque monsters that can only be killed by hacking off their limbs. It may be a while before the remake releases so stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
