Death Stranding Pre-Production Documents Show Early Game Ideas

See some rough sketches for the game's core concepts.

No matter which way you want to slice it, Death Stranding is just a different kind of game all around. It’s not something we’ve ever really seen in the mainstream, and I’m willing to wager that it’s something we won’t see in it again anytime soon. One of its most interesting aspects is its Strand System, the asymmetrical multiplayer component that sees the world be built by efforts of multiple players, and it’s something the game’s Director had in mind for a long time.

Via his official Japanese Twitter, Hideo Kojima showed some very early documents of the game well before it officially went into production. The first focuses on how roads and similar paths are form, with the second focusing on the very core idea of the Strand System. Seems Kojima already had the idea laid out well in advance of the game’s existence, one that he hopes had people feeling positive.

Death Stranding is available now for PlayStation 4 with a PC version coming sometime in 2020. While it’s not been confirmed the game will get a sequel, we know Kojima is in the process of working on his next game’s concept.
